PaddleHeads Bats Keep Rolling In 25-10 Rout
IDAHO FALL, ID - After an 20 hit effort on Tuesday night, the Missoula PaddleHeads offense would see their first 3 hitters go down in order Wednesday in game 2 of their series with the Idaho Falls Chukars. Idaho Falls' bats would be quiet in the first as well in what would be a quiet first inning. PaddleHeads starter Alfredo Villa would find ways to keep the offense of Idaho Falls under control as well in the innings that followed. To say the PaddleHeads attack would not be held in check would be putting it lightly.
Missoula would go on to score runs in 7 of the next 8 innings offensively only being held off the board in the top of the 8th. All 10 men that had at-bats over the course of the contest would have at least 1 hit in the game. Even more impressively, 9 of those 10 batters would tally 2-hits or more in the contest. The PaddleHeads would also amass 27 hits when it was all said and done. Despite scoring in double digits for the 2nd straight game, Idaho Falls seemingly never threatened to make things interesting in a 25-10 win for Missoula.
A 3-run rally in the 2nd inning gave a glimpse of what would be the norm for the PaddleHeads attack. Collin Runge provided muscle in the inning hitting a 3-run blast off the scoreboard in left center field to give the PaddleHeads a lead they never gave up. Runge would knock in 4 runs finishing 3-for-7 while also being a part of another rally in the next half inning.
A 5-run rally in the 3rd saw Missoula's lead grow to 7 runs. Doubles from Adam Fogel, and Mike Rosario would both bring in runs to get things rolling. Josh Elvir would also bring home a run on a sacrifice fly to center. Luis Navarro would put on the finishing touches with a single to right center to drive in Runge to make the score 8-1.
Navarro, and Elvir would both finish with 3 hits to their credit, knocking in 6 combined runs in the win. Fogel would finish with a team high 4 hits going 4-for-7 with 4 RBIs while Rosario would wrap up his night 3-for-7 with 3 driven in. The offense would just keep on coming in the innings that followed.
Another double from Roasio would get Missoula to double digits in the 4th. Navarro would then strike with the long ball in the 5th making the score 13-3 with a homer to right center. A player that entered the fray in the 7th would do a lot of heavy lifting for the PaddleHeads offense down the stretch.
Jaylon Lee entered the game for Rosario and would take the first pitch he saw out of the ballpark down the left field to make the score 17-3 in the 7th. James Madision would also strike in his final at-bat in the 9th as Missoula had one more monster inning in them.
The PaddleHeads attack had 10 hits alone as part of an 8-run rally in the top of the 9th. Fogel would knock in runs with a home run, and single in the same inning. Doubles from Lee, and Roberto Pena would help round out the scoring bringing Missoula's run total to 25. This run total was the highest in the history of PaddleHeads baseball dating back to 2021.
Alfredo Villa delivered another solid outing to back the monster effort on the mound earning his 2nd win on the road trip. The Arizona native struck out 8 over 5 innings of work to earn his 3rd win of the season. This effort would be more than suitable for the PaddleHeads offense that has scored 47 runs over the course of the first 2 games of this series.
The PaddleHeads (34-10) will look to break out the brooms in the series finale with the Chukars (18-26) on Thursday evening in the final game of this 9-game road trip. First pitch from Melaleuca Field is set for 7:05 p.m. Catch all the action in the final regular season battle between the Chukars and PaddleHeads on ESPN Missoula 102.9 F.M. and 1029espn.com.
